New For 2007

The genealogy for the deMercado family has been traced back to Aaron deMercado who was born in Amsterdam around 1590. This means that the family lineage in West Indies now goes back more than 417 years!

Please note that for  security reasons I have not published on this site most of the names of family members born after 1956. If you are one of the family and you do not see your name listed, please send me an e-mail.

Many people, especially Dorothy Kew are owed a special thanks for providing many details of family members who born  between 1830 and 1920 and who who were cousins and in-laws of Charles E deMercado.

I have also added some picture of old paintings in Private hands that may be of interest as well as some information on the 1907 Earthquake and the inside information on what cost Governor Swettenham his job.
